New breast pain 3 years after surgery

I had a lumpectomy and breast reduction three years ago. For the past 2 days, I've had occasional shooting pains in the same area of my operated breast. This has not occurred before.

I just saw my oncologist (right before this started, as a matter of fact) and he found nothing abnormal.

All the research I've done shows that this is probably nothing serious, but of course I'm worried. If it doesn't go away by Monday, I'll call my oncologist, but in the meantime, has anyone experienced a new pain like this so long after surgery?

yes. I am nearly 4 years past surgery. I get new strange pains quite often. Usually it has to do with gas. Strange place to feel it in the breast but that's where I get gas pains. (Well I call them gas pains, that's my personal diagnosis).

New breast pain just now 6 mos past surgery. Next month I see my surgeon 6 mos. last visit so will ask. I've read in this forum that new pain can start months or years after surgery, perhaps nerve related. Fun, huh?

My MO said any new pain/ symptom that persists 2 weeks should be reported.

Just as a followup, I had a mammogram and nothing was found- the pain went away after a week or two more. Whew!
