One more puppy walk before I (hopefully) go.
-
absolutely love this pic
-
Iwave, since you like to run; I wish you would come over every day and take the big one for a jog. She is still a puppy and has ENDLESS energy!
-
64 degree drop from yesterday afternoon till this morning - 83 down to 19!! Denver got a few inches of snow - enough to wreck havic driving in some areas this morning...snow stopped by lunch time and roads were fine after work....It was a COLD walk after dinner - bundled up in heavy down coat and boots!!
Ruth have fun in Santa Fe - look forward to seeing pictures.

Yesterday I got out of North Dakota right ahead of a winter storm. Then Karen, instead of having a 2 hour layover at your airport, I was there for 6! Two hours because of the weather, and two due to mechanical issues (which necessitated an aborted takeoff). So I was particularly glad to make it to Santa Fe in one piece!
We spent today in Albuquerque at the International Balloon Festival, which was amazing!

Glad you made it out!
Yesterday was weights, this morning I've got a 7 mile run. The temps dropped like crazy here in Kansas so I'll be pulling out the cold weather running gear. It's 35 but windy so the wind chill is 29.
-
And that's it, not taking tamoxifen any more. My heart rate spiked to 172 in the first mile at a slow pace. Screw that.
-
Hiking in Maine atAcadia National Park this week: Beech Mountain loop trail. We are visiting family in New England on a vacation, and the colors in NH and ME have been super beautiful!
-
I have been offline since around April. Tried skimming through the posts but there’s way too much to catch up on so I am just jumping back in from here
I hope the Santa Fe group has a great time. Wish I was there with you!
-
Knocked out a half hour of cardio.
-
We spent the day at the Pecos National Historical Park. Pecos was home to a powerful ancient civilization of the Pecos Indians. It was both beautiful and haunting to walk where they walked and to explore some of the excavations. There are also the ruins of a Spanish mission to check out, and several of us took a ranger guided tour of the Glorieta Battlefield, where the most western battle of the Civil War was fought.
Ready to climb down into a Kivas. The underground chamber where religious ceremonies were held.
Beautiful views from every angle.
-
The ruins of an old Spanish mission.
On the Glorieta Battlefield.
-
Ruth - gorgeous photos!

Hi Ginger! Nice to see you.
Edj sorry that you feel you want to kick the Tam. Would you consider talking to your doctor first?
So glad to see y’all together in Santa Fe.
My exercise routine has been sorely lacking since school and soccer season got underway. Nothing g real to report except I went to NYC this weekend and walked a bunch
-
I'm behind on pictures. Yesterday morning was spent in in the old downtown area of Santa Fe. We all shopped and some of us went to the Georgia O'Keefe Museum and the old Cathedral.
-
We spent Sunday afternoon at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden.
-
Four four of us got up early for a sunrise balloon ride. It was spectacular and not at all scary!
We are in that blue balloon!
-
On on the ground again!
-
This afternoon we went to Bandelier National Monument. It has the largest and best known Pueblo Indian cliff dwelling in New Mexico. A beautiful spot for hiking!

Hey Falconer , I'll let my doctor know, sure. But until my heart rate is back to normal on my runs, I'm not about to touch tamoxifen. Saturday it spiked to 176 on what was supposed to be a 7 mile run and ended up being two miles mostly walking, Sunday was even worse at 189. My normal heart rate on my runs is in the mid 150s. Those spikes are dangerously high.
As I posted elsewhere, three things have changed in my world:
- Radiation--if this is from radiation damage, well I'm screwed.
- Prolia--got that shot Sept 13, so it will be another five months before that wears off
- Tamoxifen--started it Sept 23; heart rate started spiking about 10 days later.
I've read how long it takes tamoxifen to clear the body (holy cow it hangs on) so if this is from tamoxifen, I should be back to normal in a month (and hopefully trending normal a lot sooner than that).
-
Today was a mile round trip walking to a dollar store for batteries.
-
Yoga today. I'm tired of waiting for the all clear to work out my upper body (left pec and armpit are super painful) so today I said screw it and did yoga anyway.
-
Ruth- you girls know how to plan a trip!
Falconer-school, soccer, band, and track are killing me!! That's just grandkids! I dont know how Moms today don't all!!😁
Edj3- I hear ya!!! I'm so sorry you are having the issues with your heart rate. I felt like crap for a year after treatment ended. I beat myself up daily because I couldn't do what I was doing before BC. I'm still not and I'm still adjusting. The LE has been my biggest set back and I get so angry at times. Know you are not alone and that we get it!
The pictures are breath taking! No way I'm trying to remember who posted what!😛
Lots of power walking and stairs climbed the past few days...here's yesterday
-
We just finished the last day of the trip. We took a very interesting and educational trolley tour this morning. Another gal and I toured an old mission in the afternoon (the church's bell was made in Spain in 1536!), and we went to a Japanese Spa for some pampering this evening. Tomorrow will be a long travel day! Here's a picture from the spa.....ahhhh.....
-
Fresh off my 30 minute workout!
-
Still having heart rate issues. I know tamoxifen takes a while to go away and that can't come soon enough for me (assuming that's what's behind this).
-
-
It’s a great article, Falconer! I am with you that it’s been hard to fit exercise into the back to school routine. I did well over the summer with biking, swimming and Zumba. I am missing my morning exercise schedule.
Great pictures from the trip, Ruth.
