Two types of cancers in one?

Hi everyone, I'm a 35/f. First time poster, but I’ve been lurking a bit!

I just got my biopsy report back. It's positive for two types of cancer (ductal and lobular) in one tumor! How is that possible? It's a huge mass. Popped up a month so ago and now it’s big enough to see through my skin

Am I just incredibly lucky (sarcasm!)??? Geez!

Yeah, it's fairly common. A lot of people have DCIS and IDC or LCIS and ILC, but mixed type is always possible. I do beat you at cancer bingo, though. I had five kinds of cancer spread across seven tumors in both breasts. Lucky effing me. (Also sarcasm 😁)

Come here as often as you need. You'll find incredible support here.

Good luck. Hope all goes well with your treatment.

    Hi,

I had ILC, LCIS and DCIS all in one tumor also.

haha, then this makes me feel...better? Lol. Just when you think you have a handle on the basic knowledge, more things come your way

I did too, think of it this way: our mutant uprisings are overachievers.

It happens. Mine was called IDC with Lobular Features on one report and Mixed Type on another. Probably won't mean much as far as treatment goes. I believe they are treated pretty much the same. Best wishes!

thanks! That's good to know the treatments are similar. I was hoping to just have surgery, but this thing is giant (popped up a month ago and now it's poppinh out through my skin!) so it seems like some sort of treatment before surgery will happen. Glad that it won't be double the treatments

LMAO that's what my friend said to me about it! “Stop overachieving in an objectively horrifying way." Haha
