New lump in opposite breast

Diagnosed 2017 in right breast. Did a double mastectomy with chemo and herceptin and now I'm on an AI. Oncologist found a very small lump in the opposite breast 3 months ago above my left implant and it has grown. Did an ultrasound when it was small and they said probably a cyst but they weren't positive. It has tripled in size. Going back on Thursday for another ultrasound.

Question.....do I push for a biopsy? Anyone else had lump that they said was something other than cancer but then turns out it was? Trying not to worry but it doesn't hurt, its hard and well my gut is eating away at me.

Any input would be so helpful. Thank you ladies

Stressed to the max!!! Oncologist is worried and so is my husband. I purposely didn't feel it until yesterday and I lost it. I could barely feel it before. Now it's about 2cm.

    Well, cysts can grow, so the fact that it's grown doesn't mean it's not a cyst.

    At this size, if it's a cyst, that should be pretty clear on the ultrasound. Cysts are fluid-filled and can be distinctly identified by ultrasounds. I'd say that if the imaging shows without any doubt that it's a fluid-filled cyst, then a biopsy isn't necessary, but if it's anything but 100% certain, then, yes, a biopsy would be warranted. And frankly, even if it definitely is a cyst, since it's been growing it probably makes sense to aspirate the cyst, just to get rid of it, assuming that can be done without risk to your implant.

    The only way to be 100% sure is a biopsy, so I'd push for that. Sorry you are dealing with that.

    I second the advice to push for a biopsy. Punch biopsies were done for my recurrences and those were not difficult. I hope you get benign results. Hang in there and best wishes to you.

    hello... thought you could give me some advice once you have a response. Or any other research answers.. I was diagnosed in 2016 with DCIS i was 29. I have been taking hormone therapy since then. Last year a suspicious fining was noticed on my right breast but I didn't want to do a biopsy since there wasn't enough proof. So I just left time pass, and I was right. it was just scaring tissue nothing to worry. But since stopped taking tamoxifen (hormone therapy) 7 months ago, since I got my MRI done on September there was a suspicious finding on my good breast(left breast). This "lump" hurts... it runs to my underarm and my shoulder blade. I know I need to do a biopsy. I keep in mind that my body is barely getting back in track so my periods are just getting regular and with that comes a lot of breast pain. So I am nervous. Since the previous reports have mentioned about my left breast having a cyst. So I don't know if I should pierce it. Specially since I'm young andbarely getting my body back to "normal" state. Piercing and pinching with blood and test, it seems like that's all doctors want to do now. I understand they are doing the reasonable choice, but sometimes I think it's just the easiest choice.. or beneficial financially. I just want a recommendation to wait and see if it goes away or act on it. I'm confused.. pls help.

    I absolutely would want a biopsy. You are young, and things can be more aggressive when young, so you'll want to catch it early if it is something malignant. Hoping it is benign. Have they done any genetic testing?


    Do keep us posted on how things go. Sorry you are facing this added worry.

    blueteal I see my oncologist tomorrow. First an ultrasound and then I meet with her. She said we will know pretty immediately if its something concerning because if its a cyst it will be fluid fluid versus and solid mass. If solid they will do a biopsy tomorrow also.

    I will update everyone tomorrow. My appt is at 1pm. My oncologist called today to let me know the appt could be long if they do a biopsy.
