I have been taking anastrozole for the past 18 months. Have had the typical side effects like stiff joints in the morning, fatigue, but they've been tolerable. For the past six months or so, I've had a persistent pain on my right side. It kind of comes and goes but lately it comes more than goes. I had DCIS so in theory nothing should have spread. The DCIS was 5 mm, Grade 1 and my Onco score was 0. I had CT scans this May and while they showed nothing other than couple very small sub centimeter spots on my liver, no doctor (gastroentorologist, oncologist, primary care) who looked at the scans had any concerns about spots (some of which were identified as cysts, some were too small to identify). Since the pain is only on my right side, I'm scared it's something serious. I know no one can diagnose this so my question is simply whether anyone has experienced "liver" (right sided) pain from anastrozole??

Hi Dublin6, and welcome to the BCO Community. While it doesn't seem to be a typical side effect of anastrozole, it is certainly worth talking again with your doctors about your concerns. Do you have nausea or fever as well? Please keep us posted.

Nausea and fever would be consistent with liver mets.
