Having biopsy done on friday bloody nipple discharge
I am having a biopsy done on Friday and I am scared. I have had bloody discharge from my nipple for over 3 months. They will make an incision under my nipple area and lift it up and take out some ducts and the lump too.
Dedicated right breast ultrasound was performed of the lateral right breast, medial breast, and periareolar tissues. Within the medial breast, is normal-appearing breast parenchymal tissue. No mass is identified. Again seen in the lateral breast, at the 9:00 N+7 and 10:00 N+5 locations, are stable ovoid shaped circumscribed hypoechoic nodules measuring 5 x 2 x 4 mm and 5 x 3 x 5 mm respectively. Given the stability, these are compatible with benign etiologies. Within the subareolar tissues, is a prominent ductal structure with some ill-defined internal debris located deep to the nipple. At the lateral margin of the nipple, is an ovoid shaped elongated cystic structure which may reflect a dilated duct versus an elongated cyst at the nipple complex margin. This contains an irregular mural nodular density measuring 5 x 2 mm. There is no internal color Doppler flow. No nipple discharge could be expressed during the evaluation.

I'm sorry you are going through this! I also have bloody nipple discharge, but no lumps for me, I have thickening and pain. I have been in the diagnostic phase for nearly 6 months now....2 diagnostic mammos/US, US guided biopsy and 2 mri's (the last one 2 days ago). but the images on my second MRI are looking more promising than the first one. So now I just have a US next week to look at a few new things seen on this MRI. If that goes well I should be all cleared for my ductal excision and possible excisional biopsy sometime in the next 2 weeks. I completely get how scary this is, my stress goes up when I'm closer to getting a new test or waiting for results.
Through all this waiting one thing I really struggled with was thinking I really didn't have the "right" to be anxious or cry because I was not diagnosed with anything serious, I don't yet know what it is. Last week I finally recognized that this process of all the testing and waiting, and the symptoms themselves are stressful, time consuming and cry worthy. So don't be afraid to cry if you need to. My doctor has reminded me that that vast majority of the time bloody nipple discharge is caused by papilloma's and not cancer. He has promised to do everything he can to figure out exactly what is happening so I have a firm answer and don't have to wonder.
I'll keep my fingers crossed you get good imaging on Thursday that gives your doctor a good foundation to figure out what is causing your bloody discharge, pain and lumps quickly.
