Period While on Chemo?

I am 45 years old, was getting regular periods prior to chemo, which started on September 26. Second chemo was yesterday. Normally should have gotten my regular period between chemo 1 and 2, but nothing yet. I asked my Doctor if chemo would stop my period and he said quite possibly, but nothing further. I had a pelvic ultrasound the same day I started chemo, as I had a thick endometrial lining on prior CT scan. Got a call from my Doctor saying it was thick for my age, but she had reviewed it with 3 gynecologists and they agreed it was determined to be normal. So my very naive question is, if I don't have a period what happens to the endometrial lining? And has anyone else stopped having periods while on Chemo and have you had any further complications because of it? Did it come back once chemo was over? I am doing chemo before surgery and am not on any hormone blockers yet.

    Ange743 - I’m 39 and my period stopped after my 1st chemo and still hasn’t come back - I started chemo June 2018 - my oncologist said it may or may not come back so who knows - and I’ve had no complications regarding it not coming back

    I'm guessing that when periods stop as a result of chemotherapy, the uterine lining stops thickening as well.

    I stopped having my periods during chemo and they haven't come back. I was told to expect they would stop, and it is unknown if they will come back.

    I’m in the same boat. I was diagnosed at 41, had my first AC when I was barely 42 and 2 days later had a HUGE period and then nada. That was in July of 2018. I’m having my hormone levels tested next month to see if I’m really in menopause. But, I’m thinking mine isn’t coming back. I was told if you are close to being peri-menopausal then the chemo just knocks it out. Ovaries are very sensitive.
