I felt a hard part of what seems to be breast tissue. It just feels different. It's not a lump or rock hard or even a circle it follows a part of breast tissue it's like the end of the tissue. Had a nurse practitioner look and feel she said all is well then physicians assistant came in and did feel the area and said it feels like prominent tissue but is still sending me for a ultrasound. She told me to wait two weeks to see if it's still there as I'm on my period but I can't wait. I'll be trying to get in tomorrow. I probably won't sleep tonight

Yes, do NOT wait! Trust your gut on this and go in for an ultrasound/mammogram. The worst thing I did in this journey was wait because my gyno said she didn't think I had breast cancer, so she bought me about 4 weeks of relief...

I’m for sure going tmrw. Luckily I work at the University of Michigan so I’ll be able to get in. I’m just so scared.

Yes, you should wait as the physician's assistant suggests. First, you want to know if what you feel reduces or goes away once your period is done. And second, although unusual, being on your period could lead to a false negative or false positive result on your ultrasound.

Breast tissue changes all the time. The two week rule of thumb before getting something checked out is pretty standard, because many lumps and bumps felt during some parts of the menstrual cycle go away on their own.

Chelleb, you have plenty of experience with breast concerns that have so far all fortunately turned out to be nothing. Based on your own experience as well as usual practice, waiting seems to make sense.

Bessie I know you are right as you always have been. I’ll sleep on it. I’ve been doing so good with my anxiety for so long now but I feel myself spiraling. Thank you ladies for taking the time to respond to me

Chelleb, I will add to my previous post by saying that if what you feel is still there in 2 weeks, then definitely get it checked out. So I'm not advising that you ignore this, but just that you give your body a chance to go through it's normal cycle to see if this resolves on it's own. If it doesn't then have the ultrasound.

The thing with breast cancer - and hopefully this is nothing at all and not breast cancer - is that except in very rare cases or with IBC - 2 weeks doesn't make any difference. A new lump or mass feels like an emergency, but it's not.
