i had a milk duct removed 7 weeks ago (benign) then a big lump formed at first i thought it was feom thw surgery but didnt go after much to do i managed to get back to clinic ultra sound showed a hemertoma the size of a melon they drained off just over half a pint of blood and said there was a little left and my body would reabsorb it. That was 10 days ago but i still have a hige lump not melon size but prob size of a lemon and seems to be getting bigger not smaller. I will have a fight to get seen as for the 2nd time they have discharged me. Anyne know what my treatment options are or what to do next? Im getting no where fast!

Despite being discharged, this is an issue secondary to the treatment they provided, so I would call them back and “remind” them of this. I am so sick of patients being treated w less than compassionate care and their concerns about their health being dismissed. I know you have to be concerned but you shouldn’t have to question whether they will revisit this w you. Good luck w this.

thank you ive been back today which was pretty useless they told me comolwtwly different to last time didnt examine me and basically told me to go away ive demanded a ultra sound again to see if it needs draining again which they have agreed to im going back tomorrow but im now running out of options if they still insist it will go on its own its been 7 weeks now and its been drained in that time. Its not like its small its 14 inch by 9 inch (yes i measured it) i just dont know what to do if nothing happens tomorrow. Apart from try amd get reffered elsewhere. They just dont seem interested because i dont have cancer. Its like they want to wash there hands of me! I didnt even have a lump before the op just a leaky nipple now i have a huge lump. And its limiting my activities and life. Im well and truely fed up!

I’m not sure about hematoma, but I had a seroma after my mastectomy. I applied hot, moist compresses to it for 15 min several times a day and it absorbed in about 2 weeks. I have read that docs try not to aspirate seromas bc they tend to refill quickly whereas if compressed used they tend to absorb completely. Maybe someone else in the forum will know more about hematomas than I do. Hope you find some relief
