Stereotactic Biopsy for Microcalcifications: Waiting
Hi!
I am new here, 38, and waiting on results of 2 different biopsies.
I initially went in to the Breast Clinic due to a small lump that appeared 2 months ago on the outside of my left breast. The surgeon thought it was worth investigating, so he sent me for a mammo (my first ever) and ultrasound that day.
They called me back after the mammogram because they had found clusters of microcalcifications, in a linear arrangement, in my right breast. There were also microcalcifications in the left breast that were not as immediately concerning, but we need to be checked again in 6 months.
They also said that the lump I was feeling appeared somewhat abnormal. One radiologist looked at it on ultrasound and insisted it was a normal lymph node. Another radiologist (same clinic) wasn't so sure, and recommended biopsy. This has left me feeling very confused and worried...who is right?!
So yesterday, I had a stereotactic biopsy for the linear clusters of microcalcifications, in which they took 8 samples. They also did a core biopsy on the possible lymph node on the left.
My question is: for those who had Microcalcification clusters in a linear arrangement, what was your diagnosis?
Also, has anyone experienced 2 radiologists disagreeing on what a particular mass might be? (Yikes!)

my linear calcifications were DCIS... the earliest stage of BC. What was your Birads score? Any other terminology used? When are you expecting results? Sending positive vibes your way...

Thank you for replying, and I am sorry for your diagnosis. What were your next steps after diagnosis?
They did not mention anything to me about Birads score - do you think I should call and ask? They also mentioned that I had "dense breasts."
I had the biopsies on Friday, and results are 3-5 business days. Very hard not to think about this constantly.

The test, wait for results, test, wait for results is one of the hardest aspects of breast cancer. It will be on your mind, you’ll google things, it’s really hard. Try to spend time with friends and family, going for walks, focus on work, and doing things you enjoy to try to keep your mind off it.

Thank you, Askmissa💙 This is good advice!

your mammo and US report is yours to keep.. I would definitely ask for a copy for your own records. You will find your Birads score on that copy.
Waiting is the worst.. your mind goes to dark places. Keep busy... clean house, Netflix, spend time with family. Before long, you will have a definitive answer. Hoping all is B9... but if not, remember that treatment has come a long, long way.
Please let us know if there is something we cando for you. Sending virtual hugs.

They wouldn't have scheduled a biopsy for suspicious calcifications unless she had a Bi-Rads 4. They did not tell her they strongly believed she had cancer, so likely nothing higher
