A few days ago, my husband had like what looked like a pimple or the beginning of a boil on his arm. He kept it covered and I said if it doesn't look better overnight, you should go to urgent care. He did, doctor gave him an antibiotic and took a sample to check for infection but Doc said they probably didn't have enough sample to tell if it was anything like MRSA--and it's probably not.

husband has kept it covered and taking the antibiotic. I've not shared any drinks/ towels/ etc with him. No make out sessions etc. I have done laundry and washed dishes so could have potential exposure from touching laundry or dishes...

Anyway after 5 days Doc calls say he has MRSA

GREAT! I just finished 3rd week of taxol. my blood counts are good. I feel good. No pimple looking stuff going on. The spot the husband has is improved since he went to the doctor.

MY question is does this warrant a weekend call to my MO or can I call on Monday AM since I'm pretty sure they are going to tell me to wash hands, avoid husband etc.

Thanks for reading and if you have sec keep your fingers crossed that I don't get that crap!

my MO said stay away from husband as much as possible and for him to go back and get re checked for MRSA at the end of the course of antibiotics-to make sure it worked.

Sorry 2019. When it rains it pours, huh? Hopefully, the antibiotics did the trick for him and you will be fine.

2019whatayear, My daughter had MRSA on her face it started as a pimple then filled up with fluid. She went to Urgent Care , they drained it and took a culture. The doctor said that it was probably MRSA and started her on a large dose of doxycycline. The culture came back 3 days later as MRSA. I had her eat yogurt 3x a day to prevent a yeast infection. I wiped down everything with a disinfectant for strep....door knobs, light switches etc. No shared towels etc. and no using a bath towel twice. No one including her boyfriend got it. The most important thing is that your husband knows the antibiotic is working. The site looks better, less redness, less drainage, decrease in size. Don't wait for the antibiotic to finish if the wound is not improving.
