6 month follow up approaching...worried!
.I have been having frequent non cyclic unilateral breast pain since 1/19 (over 8 months now). The pain as also recently started aching in the axillary region and radiating a dull ache down my arm. I had a abnormal screening mammogram in March showing a 1.0 x 1.5 microlobulated mass @5:30 3 cm from nipple. That was followed by a dx mammo, US. Classified as BIRADS 4. I then had a biopsy. The biopsy read benign epithelial tumor most consistent with fibroadenoma. BUT the pathologist commented in the report that only a small portion at the very edge of the lesion was sampled, therefore a surgical may be indicated for a final diagnosis, if clinically indicated. So I feel like that suggests it was somewhat inconclusive and not sampled well. I insisted on a MRI a couple weeks later just because the radiologist recommended I have them annually due to being high risk. On MRI they only commented on the Mass being oval, STIR hyper intense with progressive enhancement kinetics , also noted was residual post biopsy hemorrhage and noted it was a biopsy proven fibeoadenoma. ( I somewhat don’t feel confident calling it that) Per mammo and US it was microlobulated and suspicious. I feel like they didn’t carefully/seriously interprete the MRI since biopsy results were in. When I brought up excision at the time I kind of was made to feel like I was overeating a bit and to wait 6 months would be totally fine and more conservative. also when I asked the hospital that did the biopsy if they would rebiopsy due the incompleteness of the sample. They said that radiologically it was not indicated unless there's a change. But the more I read up about false negatives and instances in when they should actually re-biopsy, the more I realize they should have. Due to my moms hx of BC at a young age, her aggressive triple negative tumor type, and the fact that radiologically my tumor had many features of triple negative tumors ( which can overlap those of benign tumors). Is it really worth taking the risk with the life of a 37 year old mom of 3 rather than just rebiopsy it? I will be seeing a different system now—Huntsman Cancer Hospital—because it's part of the U of U system where I am now back working again, and they are world class. They said when I spoke with them that it should probably have been rebiopsied at minimum or excised due my moms hx and due to poor sampling. So hopefully that's the path we are headed down as of Monday. I’m also scheduled for genetic counseling and BRCA testing. I feel like people think your paranoid until it's cancer... but why risk it? I’m really scared now as the pain is worse again now and into my arm pit.

Amakitrin Considering your mum's history, I think you have good reason to request a re-biopsy. Yes people can be like that if they believe what you have is benign, they may start acting like you are a hypochondriac or neurotic, but seriously it's your health, and you are better safe than sorry!
