The "why do I hurt?" game.
Fellow BCO members, I hurt and I have no idea why. My hips and lower back mainly. It feels like a joint and muscle thing, and it came on over the course of about a week.
I've had problems with my hips before, though I've done none of the activities that are known to aggravate them, yet they ache as if I have, and I've never had problems with my lower back yet my muscles/joints there feel like they could use a heating pad.
Could this be a side effect of the Tamoxifen? I've been on it for 10 months.

I have had on and off pains in my legs, back, ankles you name it. It is almost like your body cannot recover from what used to be a normal activity as quickly. That being said, if your symptoms persist for a while, speak with your MO about it. My MO wants to evaluate symptoms that last for 3-4 weeks. Others have MO's with shorter times to consider evaluating.

This happens to me and it's the tamoxifen they say. Definitely get it checked out if it continues just in case, but yeah, pain. Mine is more tendon issues all over. My MO said it's usually joint, but can be tendons and muscles too. I seem to be more easily injured, like opening a hard door knob will make my forearm feel injured for awhile, but it's not like a real injury. It's weird actually

I have lower back pain when I don't do enough ab strengthening exercises. If my back and leg muscles get weak enough I'll get hip pain as well from overcompensating, but that hasn't happened in about 10 years. I felt pretty lousy after each of my surgeries just from the atrophy and had lower back pain both times until about 3 months after surgery when I was able to get my strength back. Have you been feeling lousy and not as active as usual?
It could be the Tamoxifen. I have stiffness in my feet in the mornings now that I never had before, I'm pretty sure its from the AIs. I hobble to the bathroom like an old lady now.

hapa:
I was actually feeling pretty good until this came on. I have gained back some of the weight and strength I lost during chemotherapy.

can i just lol to the title of this thread? I feel like we all do this. I have been experiencing the same issue for about a year... I've gone through periods where i use a heating pad every night for weeks. After MRI and bone scan it appears i have arthritis.

Hmm, I'd go with the 2 week rule here. If it's not getting better a week from now, contact your MO and/or PCP for a scan. I feel like joint pain in extremities is more common with hormone therapy.
