Any surgeries scheduled for October?

My BMX (without any reconstruction) is scheduled for October 10th. I was told my drains may come out in less than a week. Two weeks left to prep but I am pretty up to speed thanks to all the comments here! I am so glad I found this wonderfully supportive community!!

I think she means getting things ready at home. Some people need to get button-up shirts or nightgowns, easy-pull-on pants, lanyard for drains, or a wedge pillow. And getting things in order if you won't have much help at home - like putting water/milk into smaller containers, getting disposable cups/plates so you don't have to do dishes.

I'm getting DMx with DIEP reconstruction on 10/28.

Hi, all! I had my pre-op visit yesterday and most of my questions were answered. Eigna and mallokg, they told me to get the Fruit of the Loom Women's Comfort Front Close Sport Bra Style 96014 at either Walmart or Amazon. I am going to be wearing it 24/7 for 14 days. So, I ordered 3 of them from Walmart.

My oncoplastic lumpectomy (in both breasts) is Oct. 10 at 10:30 am. I have to be at the hospital at 6 am to get the dye injection. I know the dye has to have time to circulate, but 4 hours?? I'll be checked in with the IV started so I won't be able to move around. It's going to be a long day in a hospital bed. I'll be spending one night in the hospital, then released the next morning if my pain is under control.

I think this is my silver lining for the whole shebang. With oncoplasty, I get a reduction and a lift. Can't wait to get smaller boobs! However, I'm still nervous about it. Reading all these comments helps calm me. Thank you!

Famous, your day is tomorrow! I pray that you get the direct to implant that you want. Hope it's an easy recovery.

This is my 1st post. I just had nipple-sparing bmx direct to implant on October 1st. I have 1 drain on each side, which I can't wait to remove and shower. My question is for any others with this exact procedure regarding the appearance post surgery; immediately & in the future. I wasn't prepared to see so much rippling, bumps etc. & freaked out when I saw them for the 1st time the following day. After contacting my PS he said it would take up to 6 six to see the final result due to bruising, swelling etc. Will this smooth out over time? Will some bumps be normal?

Eigna, I know the waiting can be agonizing, but stay positive. You are stronger than you might think. I hope you have a best friend for support. My BFF is the best-she has driven to see me 3 times already and it it is a 2 hour drive one way for her.  She is amazed at how tough I’ve been through all this. She has been the one crying for me, and I have been consoling her!  I am a little on the timid side, but this experience and what is to come in the future has made me more determined to fight this.  And it will for you too 👍.  My favorite band is Tesla (as you can tell by my name) and they have a song called “Hang Tough”. That has been my theme song. 

I know I felt so stressed and worried in the lead up to my lumpectomy, but in the end it was so much easier to recover from and so much less traumatic than my stereotactic biopsy. You've got this, and I will hope it's just as much a breeze for you, eigna!

October 10 is a big day for us - and in Hawaii, I will be doing it after all you on the mainland are long done. I am not having any reconstruction, so hope it will be over fast and I will be cancer-free. That is my wish for all of us - that after our surgeries, we will be cancer-free!

And I have been so busy prepping my home and getting lawsuits in order - I am an environmental activist with two lawsuits which are in an inactive period - that I haven't posted here recently, but my work is nearly done and I am ready to relax post-surgery!

Aloha! I got good news - no other concerning spots following my mastectomy AND we got word today that my dog, who had to have a lump removed from her chest two days before my surgery, also doesn't have cancer. I was going to lose it if my dog got diagnosed with cancer in the middle of all of this.
