I had two previous breast reductions...one was 8 months after my initial one as I needed a revision. A year later I had a baseline but suffered serious fat necrosis in my left breast. The rad then said my tissue would change and to prepare for that...I didn’t know what that meant. I was 35. Fast forward to turning 40, doing another mammogram and being flagged for a 1cm “asymmetry” loser inner quadrant of left breast 2-3cm from nipple. Seen in craniocaudal View BIRAD 0 asked to return for u/s

Returned for u/s on 9/17 and Rad indicated A suspicious .9x.7x1.4cm hypoechoic shadowing mass “like” area within left breast but said to me he “favored” it being related to my previous surgery. He again reassured me later to try not to worry but it’s a change from previous and needs checked out...so hence enters the worry.

Sept 25th u/s biopsy

Clinical indication

Asymmetry lower inner quadrant in return areolar region immediate adjacent to an area of prominent fat necrosis. Target abnormality is not palpable

Having a hard time understanding all this....and the waiting IS driving me crazy!

Since it has already been biopsied outside opinions are not worth all that much as you will have a definitive answer soon. Also there are too many variables in a breast with 2 prior reduction surgeries to hazard a guess from a distance. The fact that they referred to it as an "area" and not a "mass" on US in encouraging though.

If you don't hear anything by noon today (Friday) and your anxiety will peak if you have to wait over the weekend, call and ask if they can get you a preliminary path report by the end of the day. Just a ballpark estimate of good vs bad, thats all you need at this point, specifics can wait.

Thank you for your reply. My anxiety has peaked...and it out of control. I’m having a hard time doing the simplest tasks...my thoughts are consuming.

    Praying for the word benign...

Here is a very good link by a forum member that many find helpful on the topic of anxiety: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/83/topics/855477?page=6#idx_154

Perhaps your PCP can make other recommendations. Hang in there.

I wanted to post that I received my biopsy results and they were benign! I wanted to update because I know how important this board was to me as I went through this excruciating process!
