9 weeks seems too soon to me to make a decision. If I were uncomfortable, I'd give it 6 months before deciding. You can't rush healing.

Nan - yes 9 weeks is way too soon to make a decision. Things settle over months, not weeks. You may be perfectly happy once you've healed but On Target is right - give it at LEAST 6 months.

You didn't say what implant you have. When you get time, go into 'my profile' and fill in your information so we can better understand where you are in the process.

mybee333, yes, a lot of fat can be absorbed. Often with fat grafting you need 3-4 rounds depending on the volume retained and the skill and experience of the ps. Yes the ps I consulted with can and will do it. I have explant surgery scheduled for Nov 5. He is on "the list" of enbloc skilled ps. He will be pulling the upper abdominal skin (just below bra band area) up to create the IMF and provide blood supply for fat. I also already have some fat that was grafted around and in front of my implants on 2 occassions to try and warm them and provide cushioning so I could tolerate them. I can't stand my implants and I believe in addition to being firm, uncomfortable (bra 24/7) they are making me sick. I am 55 but ever since getting implants I feel like I am 90. My cancer was pure DCIS, non-invasive so no chemo or rads. I shouldn't be feeling so bad!

The 1st ps I consulted with to do this is not skilled in enbloc, told me he would "try" to get the entire capsule out and I didn't have confidence in him. Please be sure if you move forward with this to have a surgeon that will do either enbloc or a total capsulectomy. If you want the fat reconstruction be sure that is also a specialty the surgeon has (has done this with mastectomy patients.) My ps did say if I don't get the result I want he would refer me to his colleagues to do SGAP flap. I think I will be fine with fat tx though. I don't mind being smaller in fact I actually like the look of an A or B cup. There are women that have gotten C and D cups with fat transfer alone though.
