Uggghhh! I found a lump in the upper outer part of my breast and it’s painful. I’m 45 and have a family history of breast cancer. My mom had a double mastectomy ten years ago. I have two kids - a boy and a girl , ages 13 and 16. I have an appointment scheduled one week from tomorrow. I had a scare before but at that time I was just called back for an ultrasound. I never felt any lumps myself, and I certainly didn’t have any pain the way I do now. I’m so nervous and can’t concentrate on anything. I don’t want to break my kids hearts

Oh!dear. It's the worst part as fear of unknown is the greatest fear of all. I understand how helpless you feel at least for this one week. All you need is distraction at this time, i won't say stop thinking about the lump and the accompanying pain but would just recommend to shift your focus to more valuable things like spending some quality time with your husband, going out for a movie date with friends, take your kids out to an amusement park, or just cook something all the family like in equal measures (mac n cheese never fails), just do anything that makes you happy. What future holds can never be predicted but we definitely can make today worth it!!

    keep us posted dear.

Thank you Godisone! Too funny about your advice. I actually cooked one of my kids’ favorite meals last night - it was a lot of work but for some reason made me feel good, and I decided to go with my son to his soccer tournament in California this coming weekend :). I have been waking up constantly in the middle of the night thinking the worst though, and I can’t get back to sleep for quite a while. Thanks for your kind words. I will for sure keep you posted. I hope you are okay too. I’m assuming you have been dealing with cancer or cancer fears. I’m sorry
