Bleeding after lumpectomy

I had a lumpectomy this morning. My bandage showed no blood on it until about 8 hours after surgery. Is that normal? I’m worried and the doctors office is closed until the morning.

Did you put any cold packs on it? I put cold packs on mine after, and I definitely had a bloodier bandage 12-24 hours later. I thought maybe it was condensation on the bandage causing the dry blood to rise up through the bandage. I called the nurse's line and they said to look out for marked warmth/swelling, but a little blood was ok. Are you taking it easy/resting?

I have a bleeding disorder that my BS chose not to treat... I tend to bleed hours to days after the procedure. Onthe night of my surgery, my breast started filling with blood. By the re next day, my entire breast was blank and purple and 3x it's normal size. Monitor the amount of blood and call the surgeon on call if you feel like it is alot for you to bleed. Definitely get an appointment as soon as possible. The ice s an excellent idea. It will reduce the bleeding as well as swelling and help reduce the pain. I do recall sleeping on a bath towel the night of the surgery.
