I had my mastectomy of my right breast on Feb 13 2018 and I had my TE in on Friday sep 13 , 2019. It has been a week but the discomfort under my armpit is still there. Does anyone know how long this discomfort go away? I stll have my drain on and my dr said the drain will be remove when it is under 20Cc in two executives days.

    Dear Shorty51,

Welcome to the BCO community. We are sorry that you are having discomfort and hope that our members can offer their experiences. You may want to check out this thread called TE trouble as you may find others there with whom you can connect. Here is some information on Implant Reconstruction. Perhaps a call to a nurse in the practice can also offer you some ideas as to how to manage the discomfort. We hope that you will connect with others here and stay active. Let us know how we can be helpful.

hi I am new. I am having a bilateral mastectomy soon. I had decided to do reconstruction. However, my physician is concerned about chronic pain from the expander and implants. Any one that has has this done and still struggling years out? So I am struggling on whether to do reconstruction. Thanks

Tami- I have had TEs for 6 months. They really don't bother me, just slight muscle soreness. They say the implants will feel much better. So I don't expect to have long-term pain.

    Hello all,

You might want to come over to TE: A beginner's primer for questions about your TEs.

    https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/44/topics...

TEs can cause discomfort as the tissue expands. Sometimes the TE drifts laterally, mine went into my armpit. It wasn't pain as much as being uncomfortable. The implants are softer, and your PS will adjust the pocket to make sure you implants are fit and secure.

    Best wishes,

    Mominator
