Ultrasound after Bilateral Mastectomy?

Saw Med Onc for follow-up this week & she ordered ultrasound for "lump" -- after skin re-excision, post-mastectomy. It doesn't feel like a lump to me -- more like ribs & connective tissue. I haven't noticed any changes at all since surgery (7 months ago)!
Feeling irritated that suddenly med onc is being vigilant (in the aftermath). For two years, she ignored visible redness/plaque at mastectomy scar site (Result: BC recurrence at skin, which was excised this year).
Has anyone else gone thru this -- unexpected diagnostic ultrasound after bi-lateral mastectomy?
