Hello,

Firstly, I am so grateful I've found a place to voice my concerns. So thank you all. I'm 28yr old, mother to a 20mo, and have been struggling a lot since my son was born. A little back story, after my boy was born I noticed post partum setting in around 4-5 months then my husband had a really bad accident at work that meant I was his caretaker for a few months while he healed up. Obviously, this all created a very stressful environment. So when I realized I'd lost all the baby weight and an extra 25lb I thought well I'm depressed and stressed so that's why I've really had zero appetite since he was born. Plus, doctors kept saying that to me and brushing off physical concerns for purely mental/emotional. However, this whole time I had noticed a hard swollen area in my right axillary. In the last 6 months especially the area has been sore and tender with occasional sharp shooting pains from the axillary to the nipple. I went to my OB when I started feeling the pain more obviously and she said probably cystic try easing off the coffee, you aren't at risk so I'm not going to order a mammogram just yet. So I said whatever it's nothing, im depressed that why I'm feeling crappy. Ive been very tired and just can't seem to get enough sleep, and the nausea! Since my boy was born I've lost over 60lb because I'm so often nauseous. I also have what I image hot flashes feel like followed by chills, occasional night sweats, and general I'll feeling.. so my husband and I just moved to be near my family for support and I decided I'd get a second opinion. Yesterday, I went to the student clinic at my University and the NP did noticed the hard swell/mass so she decided on an Ultrasound. The area isn't in where you think of breast lumps being but in the axillary tail of the breast tissue while I've learned is breast tissue that extends deep into the armpit. So I think this maybe why my first OB was less concerned idk.. I'm not sure but with the way I am feeling I am really scared. And I'm struggling with whether or not the way I am feeling is in my head or a manifestation of it.. it's a confusing and concerning place to be. My Ultrasound is on the Friday the 13.. isn't that ironic. Thanks for reading...

HI DJGeo, and welcome to Breastcancer.org,

We're so sorry you're here and worrying, but we're glad you've found us. This sounds awfully frustrating and of course you're concerned. Good for you to bring this to your doctor's attention and get a second opinion. We all have to be our own advocates.

Keep us posted on what the ultrasound says. We'll be thinking of you!

Do you feel any lumps in the other axilla? Neck? Groin? What you are feeling may be an enlarged lymph node unrelated to your breast. If they find an abnormal node where you are feeling a lump and perhaps elsewhere, and the breast shows no problems, they might want to do some blood work to see whats going on systemically.

Compare your symptoms to those listed on this web page.

I can’t address a lot of your post but I can tell you rapid weight gain or loss can be a symptom of depression. During my one bout of clinical depression, I lost 20 pounds in two months. I wasn’t really nauseous, but my stomach kind of hurt a lot of the time. Just did not feel like eating. I hope you get some answers soon.

No, I haven't found any lump other that the one. Also, before I moved I saw my PCP regarding the way I was feeling. He check lympnodes but found nothing. He had trouble feel the lump I do have but did run some blood work. He did cbc, inflammation markers, hla-b27, and thyroid. All normal but the hla-b27 which was positive and linked to rheumitic disorders. I'm waiting to see a rheumatologist. I also have hand/foot eczema that covers 50% ish of my palms and soles. Which may also be autoimmune??

Thank you for sharing. I know 10 of it dropped off the week of my husband's accident but aside from that it's slowly and steadily dropped.. hoping for answers soon too.
