Calling all those that got medicine for chemo brain, fatigue

I've been trying to get my doctors to write me a prescription for a med that seems to work well for chemo brain (post-chemotherapy cognitive impairment). First, they want me to go for some psych memory testing.

Meanwhile, what have you all taken for chemo brain so that you could continue working or continue being "in" rather than "out"? I would surely appreciate you sharing what worked for you (medicine wise).

    While I haven't had trouble with "chemo brain," I've never seen anyone mention getting a prescription to help with that. Is there some medicine in particular that you're asking for?

    MountainMia,

    This medicine is more likely to be used for BC patients due to part of a study done on it. It's called Modafinil. Not to mention if it lasts longer than the so-called norm. It's been said that over 30% of BC chemo patients (some with rads) experience long-term memory problems; longer than a year after the last chemo.

    Update: a few weeks from now, I'll go in for testing (cognitive, etc.). I'm not so sure about the billing. They say they want to see me several times and won't bill me until it's all done. Between now and when it starts, they'll see what insurance covers. I happen to know that usually, my Insurance wants the billing to be done within two months from the time that they approve it.

    I'm also going to call HR to see what can be done. Many people have lost their jobs because of this kind of thing, million or so. I'm guessing most of them didn't hear about meds that might work for them. I believe the studies said that about 80% of the BC patients (in the study) that went through chemo and rads did see significant improvements when taking Modafinil.
