I am having a bmx with tissue expander reconstruction in less than a monthand....i'm getting nervous. No idea how I will do. My bp has been higher than usual from the stress (usually controlled ok w meds) plus ive never had a 5-6 hour surgery before. Not sure what to expect...

    I am. Same deal. Bmx with tissue expander reconstruction. I'm petrified as well. I've never been under general anesthesia and a 5-6 hour surgery seems like a very long time. I'm trying to take this whole thing one step at a time. Eager to put the big surgery behind me but the unknowns are quite overwhelming.

    I'm having the same surgery this Friday! I am getting very anxious. I didn't know the surgery was 5 hours! I thought it was more like 3. The nurse told me I was likely to stay over night at the hospital. But in some cases people go home the same day. How can this be after a 5 hour surgery! I see my surgeon on Thursday. I am going to ask how long it will be. Now I am really freaked

    mine includes a sentinel lymph node biopsy and axillry dissection if needed. Probably why. Can be as short as 3.5 hours to as long as 5. Also I am fairlythin but DDD. I think they have alot of work to do. Lol

    Yes !! Having a mastectomy on September 16 th ..time is passing quickly !
