What is IDC with chronic inflammatory

has anyone had this in their pathology report? IDC with chronic inflammatory disease

    I have no idea, but since I google, I gooogled.

    This was a link about how Idiopathic Granulomatous Mastitis (a type of Chronic Inflammatory Disease)can mimic as IDC .

    "IGLM is a rare chronic inflammatory disease of the breast that mimics cancer both clinically and mammographically []. The etiology of IGLM is still obscure. The cause may be the autoimmune process, infection, a chemical reaction associated with oral contraceptive pills, or even lactation. Lymphocyte and macrophage migration occurs as a result of ductal epithelium damage, and a local immune response is produced [,]. The clinical and radiologic features of IGLM are very similar to tuberculosis and carcinoma of the breast"

    So maybe what's written in your path report is that yes you have IDC, but you also have sections of tissue suggestive of a type of chronic inflammatory disease? Maybe they don't know which one as of yet? Not sure, but I guess that would be my read.

    Definitely ask your team for clarification when you can. These are your reports and it serves you well to know the most you can about them as you go forward. Wishing you the best.

    spoonie just was reading this and was wondering if any of those you describe could mimic Inflammatory breast cancer ?

    actually the right wording I have on my pathology report is IDC with hronic inflammatory infiltrate. I don't think it has anything to do with inflammatory bread cancer but we shall see.

    this might be good: inflammatory infiltrate means a robust immune response. I had this written on my biopsy report and freaked out because I thought it meant inflammatory breast cancer. But no, it means lots of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (white blood cells fighting the cancer) which is a good prognostic sign. So it sounds like that.
