I fasted 48 hrs before infusion and 24 hrs after during 10 out of 12 weekly Taxols. I did tell my oncologist and he said the latest studiies are showing good results with fasting during chemo. He encouraged me to continue as long as I was feeling good while fasting. I did water, unseeetened tea and black coffee only. My onco told me the benefits are fewer side effects from chemo and the chemo targets the cancer cells better when our bodies are in a fasting state.

Have her contact the valter longo foundations they have resources for people in her position

They have a fasting mimiking kit and also can advise her doctors about steroids because I have read they negate some of the benefits of fasting. Hopefully she can research this as it is challenging to so.without help

I fasted on my dexamethasone days, which were the day before, of, and after my infusion. By fast, I mean I just ate some low carb food to take the dexamethasone with. Originally my goal was to maintain a ketogenic state but surprise, dexamethasone causes my blood sugar to sky rocket so the goal became to keep it in a relatively normal range but it was still kind of crazy, 114 to 120 fasting, which is higher than my normal post prandial blood sugar.

I'm not sure if it helped but I didn't have much nausea or diarrhea and was doing well enough that I did not need the saline infusions for hydration.

I fasted for my chemo. I had 4 rounds and fasted each time. I mentioned this to my MO before starting my chemo. She said she had never heard of that. She was not in favor. But I researched it and wanted to try it. I can say I never had a wave of nausea the entire I also never had diarrhea. I did have mild mouth sores, loss of appetite and some pretty bad fatigue. I'll never know if it helped because I've never had chemo before and I always fasted before and after each chem. I fasted 48hrs before and 24 hrs after. Good luck to you
