Radiologist averted her eyes I'm nervous

edited August 2019 in Waiting for Test Results

I have the day off of work until 4pm. I'm thinking of taking a walk. When I asked my radiologist who did biopsy her name she averted her eyes. She also told me when doing the mammogram with biopsy of calcifications that they moved since a week ago. I should get results by Wednesday. How do people handle the anxiety of waiting? I feel like I can't plan my life classes, work projects or vacation because my life could turn on a dime.

I've never met a radiologist who didn't introduce themselves as they enter the room. Yours might be shy.

Could have also just been having a bad day, you never know what people are going through. It's definitely normal to be anxious but don't stress yourself out extra by analyzing the doctor's body language. It's not worth the extra stress and won't change the outcome.

Mine told me point blank she thought it was bad, right after my biopsy. I actually appreciated that she did that, so it wasn't a surprise when she called me with bad news the next day.

that's a good point thank you my stress won't change the outcome. I think that is good your radiologist was straight with you at this mammography center I think the radiologists are not supposed to give an option they told me to call my oncologist for the results. I had BC in 2014 but lucked out just lumpectomy and radiation. I'm imagining the worst but I see many strong women on here who survive so I'll be ok no matter what. Thanks for letting me vent I don't think my husband gets it.

Try not to interpret things like that -- our minds are so scared we can leap to conclusions wrongly

I had a Mammo after chemo and right before surgery. After Mammo, they held me for the MD to take a look, and then told me they wanted to do an ultrasound (that had not been ordered). I was so scared they "saw" something. I spent a shitty 3 day weekend in suspense.... Turns out, they saw NOTHING and decided to double-check it with US to make sure. So sometimes the "bad" thing we think is 180 degrees from the actual situation!

Also most radiology centers have an MD on staff. You can ask to speak to them and they can tell you results. Now, I ask directly to speak to the MD who is there. Ask direct questions!! F waiting for results!!!

My radiologist told me to expect cancer, so I agree with others that they seem likely to say it. Maybe the doc has poor eye contact! Hoping for you!!

My radiologist kept saying it was unlikely to be cancer. Wrong-o. Best to get results from the biopsy.

My DH has a pulmonologist who does not make eye contact easily. After interacting with him for 15 years it is my conclusion that the man is probably on the autism spectrum. Plenty brilliant, but lacking social skills. Maybe your radiologist is like that.
