Surgery 8/27/19 Question

I had a Lumpectomy (High Risk Papilloma) with Duct excision. My Duct ended up being infected, I am just curious as to if that is normal? When I look it up, it keeps bringing me to Mastitis, but the tissue wasn’t infected just the duct. Is this something to be concerned about? Also, would my Surgeon send the Dict to pathology as well, or just the Papilloma?

The surgeon will send the entire tissue sample he/she removed to the pathologist. I don’t think the infection is anything to be concerned about as long as it resolves. Otherwise you may need antibiotics.
