I had my biopsy in the 24th and I am still purple, swollen and very sore almost 2 weeks later. The biopsy was performed near my chest wall-nowhere near my nipple and 2 days ago my nipple became increasingly sore. I have no temp and no other signs of infection. How long does it usually take for all the bruising and pain to go away

sorry you are hurting. I guess it depends on how deep they went and how much you bled. If you bled a lot or had a hematoma that can stick with you for a long time.

If I were you, 2 weeks after a biopsy with those symptoms, call whatever doctor ordered the biopsy tomorrow and see if they want you to be evaluated.

    Hope you feel better soon!!

My left side biopsy hurt for a week or two, they said it was very vascular. The two on the right didn't hurt at all.

No harm in asking the clinic!

I've had a few biopsies. One was black and blue for a few weeks. I guess I agree with the others call a nurse or doctor to get checked out. Good luck!

it was a month ago on the 24th. I went back to UAB last week and they made me feel like a lunatic. They did a 2 second ultrasound and told me to use biofreeze or aspercreme for the pain... on my nipple. Treated me like a hypochondriac. Today that area is bright red and so sore I cannot even wear a bra.

That’s awful! I cannot stand when medical professionals don’t listen. Seems like some are so rushed to just move you along when you obviously have a concern that is bothering you. Did they say you had a hematoma?

I recently also had a biopsy on two spots on my right breast . One is completely fine -no bruise! The other is opposite. The Radiologist hit a blood vessel and I had bled pretty good. She told me I might end up with a Hematoma. It’s been about two weeks, and I have an awful bruise with a hardened area about 1-2” long. I read that heat can help break up the hardened area.have you tried that? Also, you want to make sure you do not have an infection-signs would be redness, pain, swelling and possible fever. Seromas can also develop and some need to be drained if very large. They say these occurrences (hematoma, seromas, and infection are rare-but they can happen!) I would call your Primary Dr and maybe they can see you. Hope you feel better soon

it has been 7 weeks since the biopsy. The bruising has healed but my nipple is still so sensitive I can barely stand to wear clothes. I went back to be seen and they told me to use aspercreme or biofreeze on it and that was it.

Needless to say I will not be going back to UAB
