BRCA1 and breast cyst

I sm 37yo and have BRCA1 mutation but no family history of breast cancer. I now am nursing my 2year old and doing regular (ever 3-4 months) checks with ultrasound. Last check wasd in April and everything looked good. About a couple of weeks ago, I had a plugged duct that resolved in 2 days. After that I felt a small hard ball where the duct was. I went to the doctor who found a small 4mm cyst. I have read though that BRCA cancer often looks benign on MRI abd mammogram. Not sure if this is the case for ultrasound. Doctors in my country are not experienced with care for BRCA women because genetic tests with no problem are rare.

Has anyone with a high risk mutation had a breast cyst appear? What was the protocol your doctors followed?

I would like to see if I have to insist on biopsy or if I should wait and see...

You're sure to hear from other members about their personal experiences and their doctor's specific protocols for BRCA mutations. In the meantime you may want to read through the pages of our main site on: What to Do if Your Genetic Test Results Are Positive.

Hope the helps! Please, come back to let us know how you're doing!
