Hello everyone,

Just wondering: after I had one blast of radiation two months ago to small met, pain gone for awhile. Now it's back. Not severe, but noticeable. I'd say 2 on a 1-10 scale. It comes and goes. Does not interfere with activity or sleep. Is this normal? Is the radiation continuing to do its job? Or is my spine disintegrating? My doctor's appt is one month, and I don't want to bother him if this is normal.

Hopefully someone on the boards has had the same experience. I thank you in advance.

This is not quite the same situation, but I have a similar question. I finished RT about 2 1/2 months ago (for BC, not for mets). All of a sudden in the past week I have developed an area right at the periphery of the radiation field on my side that has become very tender and painful. I'm wondering if this is from the RT- possibly the body trying to heal itself? I have read that the RT continues to work for a long time after the last treatment. It's a similar timeframe to what you are describing at least. Though in your case i would err on the side of caution and give your doctor a call.

When my husband had radiation for prostate cancer he was told that he would experience radiology effects off and on for the next year or two. And it's been true. it should be no different for us!
