Lump in armpit

Options

Just curious if anyone was diagnosed with a recurrence after DMX? My original cancer was on the right side, diagnosed in April 2016. I had bilateral mastectomy in September 2016. Since then I've had multiple "scares" that have resulted in additional testing just to be safe because of "my history". I hate having a history! Anyway, this week I noticed a rather large lump in my left armpit when I was putting on my deodorant. I called my MO and she had me come in to be evaluated. She said she didn't feel or see anything, which I thought was strange since I could see it, but she said I know my body and she didn't want to discount what I saw/felt, so she is having me get an US. It's not for another week and a half or so. I'm worried that this is going to be a recurrence, but also all the other scares over the last 3-ish years have turned out to be nothing, so I'm trying not to worry. Just curious if anyone else has had anything like this and did it end up being benign or a recurrence?

Sounds like me. BMX 7 years ago. Ca on left side. Chemo, surgery, rads. Then a/i. Thought I was done.

January this year, right pit started hurting. PET/ct lit up some nodes. Biopsy. Yep, it’s back. Surgery, rads, now on ibrance an oral chemo.

As unbelievable as it is, I’ve found another lump in the right rad field. Just finished rads last month. Waiting to get another PET/ct scheduled.

So yes, unfortunately, it can/does return.

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had a recurrence Spookiesmom. as the pain in pit your first symptom? I don’t have any pain currently. Was your dr able to feel the nodes? I actually saw the NP in the MOs office. She said she couldn’t feel anything. I don’t know if she’s incompetent or if I’m just paranoid. I know I feel something, but I’m a big lady so maybe there’s too much flab for her to be sure of what she was feeling. She didn’t think I had any reason to be worried. My gut is feeling about 80% sure she’s wrong.

I had recurrence less than 18 months after BMX. I also had a few lumps that were benign. Hoping yours is benign!!!

I had BMX April 2018. Had lump in axilla April 2019. Ultrasound was BIRADS 4. Biopsy was benign. Re Ultrasound was recommended in 4 - 6 months post for follow up.

Good luck! I hope it’s all clear for you as well!

It was so strange. Pain and intense itching. But no bug bites. MO poked around, never said if he felt anything, but ordered the scan anyway. BS took 11 nodes, 7 were positive.

Reactive lymph nodes, benign but reacting to infection, illness, etc. swell too.

In April I had 2 lymph nodes along with a mass flagged as suspicious on mammogram, and again on MRI in May. Same side as my original DX. I had core biopsies of the mass and nodes. The nodes were benign, the mass was a new IDC

I just had a BMX 8/5, and pathology confirmed that the 2 swollen and suspicious nodes were in fact reactive benign nodes, not malignant. The mass was IDC.

So it’s possible that it could be something completely benign
