Anastrozole Generic and Arimidex
I’m starting this topic toshare experiences with name brand Arimidex and generic Anastrozole.
I’ve only taken the name brand Arimidex directly from Eagle pharmacy with manageable SEs. Astra Zeneca which is the manufacturer has taken a price increase of $30 to $60 for 30 pills!
I’ve read on the other threads mixed reviews about the manufacturer Accord and Teva. Many have written that Teva seems to have less SES than Accord but is hard to get.
I know there was a recall for Anastozole from Zydus pharmaceuticals on May 6, 2019. I don’t know if I can provide that link but it was posted on another thread here at BC.org. Anyone have additional information on this recall?
Appreciate your feedback on your experiences with either Anastrozole generic and where you get your prescriptions filled for either one.

I get mine from Teva through Walgreens. There have been a few times that they have switched to a different manufacturer. I have only taken the generic so I have no comparison.

I've been taking Anastozole (by Accord) for one year. If I understand the article correctly, the recall appears to be related to pills in single dose blister packaging. I get 90 tablets at a time from Optum Rx mail order pharmacy. This is the first time I've ever looked at the label for the manufacturer so I don't know if it's changed at all during the past year. I saw my Oncologist yesterday and she didn't mention any recall.
In the beginning, I had a few hot flashes; now I have one or two per month . I tire easy and have some aches and pains but I'm 75 years old and can't determine if it's from old age or the medicine. Plus I've had two falls during the last six months and I have pain from that.
At this time, I personally don't have any strong negative side effects stop Anastozole.

I get generic at Harris Teeter. I hit my out-of-pocket maximum both last year and this year, so my co-pay is zero. The month or two late last year I had to pay it was $3. No particularly bad SEs.

I would be interested, how many women take the name-brand Arimidex? I do. I have less side effects with the Eagle Pharmacy Arimidex prescription. I just tried going through my insurance, with a doctor's letter, and was able to get an override, but the co-pay was going to be $240 a month, the best I could do with my prescription provider, Envision Rx.
I did go ahead and order the Accord anastrazole for my next refill to give it a try. I have tried Zydus, Teva and Breckenridge and they all give me leg cramps.
