Link between breast cancer and colon cancer?

Options

My PCP advises me to get a colonoscopy(I'm 46) since I had breast cancer, I'm now at high risk for colon cancer..??my genetic testing was all negative, and I have no family history of colon cancer(or any other cancer for that matter). Anyone else hear this?

yes there is a link/ association.... get the colonoscopy. I was diagnosed 47yo and had colonoscopy after all surgeries following year...and found polyp...that was just removed in June of this year by a GI specialist because it was a rare kind and large...benign though.

Only connected risk I am aware of is with Lynch syndrome or a couple of other genetic syndromes- that was specifically what genetics wanted to investigate in my family.

I am on the three year colonoscopy plan due to a history of polyps. After my BC diagnosis and treatment last year I asked my gastroenterologist if I should have a colonoscopy then instead of waiting for the next due date (this fall) and he said No need to move it up. Not really looking forward to it but will be glad to have the information.

When I was diagnosed I was told that I was at higher risk for colon cancer and melanoma. Genetic testing confirmed that I had a mutation that increases that risk, but my initial understanding is that breast, colon, and melanoma can be related. I was also told that a family history of early onset prostate cancer increases risk for breast cancer in the family without a known genetic marker present. So every five years for me!

I have to have one every 3 years due to polyps. They remove them I have to get my next one early 2020. I am used to the prep and procedure no problem. I hope this next time there are no polyps.
