Breast cysts after 6 years surgical menopause. No hormones

Hi there ,

I just had a mammogram and ultrasound done today. I had 4 cysts in left breast. I had endometriosis so bad. I had uterus and ovaries removed six years ago. And not allowed to have hormones of any kind. So I am curious as to how I can still grow cysts without any estrogen supplements. A little confused. I'm just curious if this is normal.

Your body still makes some estrogen without ovaries by (very simplified version) converting other hormones to estrogen.

I had a very thorough hysterectomy in 2008, removing uterus, ovaries, tubes, and cervix. No hormone replacement, and I only took birth control pills for ONE year, nearly fifty years ago. I still crank out hormones like mad, enough to cause my highly ER/PR cancer.
