IBC symptoms?
Hi everyone,
I'm 38 years old and have been experiencing a few symptoms that have me alarmed. Last night I changed into my night gown and noticed both of my breasts were a pale purple color above the areolas. The underside of both breasts feels warm and my stomach and back are also warm like I’m running a slight fever but only in those areas no where else.
Neither breast is bigger than the other and no orange peel skin. This has happened a few times over the last few months and then it just goes away after a day or two then returns a few days later. This evening the purple discoloration has faded significantly but it most likely will return tomorrow.
I had soreness in my left arm for about 20 minutes like I had a blood pressure cuff on then it just subsided. The purple discoloration and warmth have me concerned. Is it true that if it were IBC it would have progressed a lot since the first sign of this back in June?
Thank you for any input.

Any history of cardiac or vascular problems?
-
Hi, thank you for your response. I'm not aware of any cardiac or vascular problems. I did go to the E.R. In 2015 because I feared I was having a heart attack. My Blood pressure was quite high. It turned out to be nothing. I went to the dentist in May and my B.P. was high. I have been told I have high “normal" blood pressure back in 2008 when my son was born. Not sure if that makes any difference. Sometimes I get heart palpitations or flutters. Do cardiac or vascular problems show up a purplish skin?
Yesterday I removed my Nuvaring which I have been on for 11 years. I have a suspicion that it may be making me not feel well.
Late last night I was warm all over now I have warmth just under the breasts like yesterday. Also the purplish color has returned to both breasts. With IBC does the warmth and purplish come and go or would it continue?

Does the purple coloring show up only when you are lying down?
-
No, the purple happens when I'm active and at rest. It has left again. It seems to appear for a few hrs and then return. When I woke up this morning @6am. Everything looked and felt normal. It was only later at around 9:30 am that it returned. It's now almost 2pm and it isn't there.

IBC is not something that would come and go, but if the symptoms are concerning, do have them evaluated to help determine what it is. Taking pictures would help the doctor when you are at your appointment (in case the discoloration is not present when you go), and journaling when it comes and goes, activities you've been doing, other symptoms, etc may help narrow down a cause. I'm sure it is frustrating!
