I had a rare type of cancer. I had a lumpectomy, and radiation. Saturday (yesterday) was my first mammogram since all of this. Am I suppose to hurt 24 hours after? Is my scar suppose to shoot pain when my dogs want a to cuddle?

I’m not a doctor but I did have a lumpectomy and yes you can still experience pain soon after. If it persists for weeks I would consult my doctor. In the meantime maybe your doctor can prescribe pain meds or suggest OTC help.

    Good luck.

Yeah, this is probably a completely normal thing. My first mammogram after treatment hurt a whole lot, and I seem to remember it hurting the rest of the day. I wouldn't be surprised if it lasted longer. The scar tissue probably got really irritated. Sorry you are hurting...did you try some ice?
