My anxiety/depression has always manifested with irritability. when I went on tamoxifen and had to switch from prozac to effexor it showed up again. The tamoxifen alone can cause depression and then with the switch and starting at a low dose (37.5) I was not fun to be around for a while. I went up to 75mg and then to the 150 before I started feeling like I was getting any anti-depressant effect from the effexor. Finally after being at the higher dose (but what is normal for using effexor with depression, the lower doses are just what they give to try to mitigate hot flashes) I started to feel more like my self and less on edge all the time. It took a while before I stopped yelling "I want my prozac back", though. (My prozac, my lymph nodes, the rest of my breast, my energy, my sharp mind. . . really, my pre-cancer life would be good. Sigh.)

Thx lowrider - I'll check into the generic, I do understand that can happen. I have to take Synthroid because I have no thyroid hormone and it has to be brand to get the correct result. Glad your getting relief from the Effexor. Gives me hope :-)

revkat, thank -u 2 - And yep, I can relate sooooooooooooooooo well. I really feel like I want to scream 'Give me my Prozac back!!!" too. It worked so well for me. But we must go on - WOW, what a journey this is.

thx for responding so fast, I appreciate it.
