Many of you know our dear sister ABeautifulSunset here on BCO. She has had a particularly rough time the past four months, and has not felt up to posting much. I asked her permission to post an update on her behalf. She is not one to make a lot of noise or call attention to herself, so I am starting this thread not only for an update, but to give you all the opportunity to offer her your support.

After many years of controlled bone mets, there were suddenly bad liver mets. In April she had a liver resection and Y-90. A lot of pain and nausea followed. She had the tumor tested and decided to try the one somewhat promising chemo combo, vinocap. But numerous painful spinal mets interrupted that. She had radiation sessions in an effort to control the spinal mets. She recently spent some days in the hospital because her pain could not be controlled at home. Now she is home and wants to resume chemo, but must first get her platelets up. With so much time off systemic treatment, there is an urgency to get control of things. Having lived with mbc for over eight years, there is the fear that time may be running out.

ABeautifulSunset, I am so hoping for things to turn around for you now — for your platelets to improve, for your pain to subside, for the chemo to work, for you to enjoy your life. You are our sweet and brave sister!

Shetland, Thank you so much for posting this information and update about our dear ABesutifulSunset.

ABeautifulSunset, I hope and pray that things turn around quickly for you. I know it is difficult to go through one setback or complication after another. It is easy to lose sight of any relief ahead. Give yourself time to recover from the suffering you have experienced so you can better handle the treatments ahead. I know it can be discouraging to wait. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and look forward to having you join us here again.

    Hugs and prayers from, Lynne

ABeautifulSunset-I have missed seeing you around and am sorry to hear how rough the past months have been. I pray that your pain subsides and that you can resume chemo soon and get those stupid cancer cells out of your body. God's peace to you.

Sunset, I am sorry to hear about the recent struggles. I hope you can get back on vinocap soon! I have found "vino" very tolerable with minimal side effects, BTW. You will be in my thoughts.

thank you wrll wishers, and especially Shetland Pony, to take the time to look out for me. And amongst your own troubles, as well.

Pain is a debilitating demotivater. So, I haven't had much motivation for the past four months.... except motivation to ease pain... which takes pretty much everything I have. I spent 8 days in hospital, and I've been home on a pain pump all week. Little help.

Tomorrow is an important day. Hopefully things will go well. If not, we all have next week to look forward to, when Mercury is finally leaving retrograde. 🤞🏻

    Sunset

Shetland Pony, thank you so much for filling us all in on what a ABeautifulSunset has been dealing with these past several months.

To you, ABeautifulSunset, my thoughts are with you. I had never heard of Mercury in Retrograde, so I googled it. Well, it says the event occurred in March as well as this July and dh and I both went through some shit in March (not anything as difficult as what you are currently going through, but definitely some upheavals) and then this month too! So it's interesting how MR could possibly affect whats going on around us.

I hope you can find ways to ease your pain and also get your bloodwork to the point where you can get back on treatment. With a screen name like ABeuatifulSunset, you and your posts are and have always been very dear to me. Many hugs to you.

ABeautifulSunset. I knew you were absent lately from the boards, I always like to assume it is for good reasons, like traveling..not being in hospitals, tests, incredible pain...

It sounds like you have a plan, like get the platelets/pain under control and start a systemic tx. Hopefully, you have a palliative care team at your hospital that is working on your pain. Pain can just be so debilitating and you don't deserve to have that added to your recovery. You just don't.

You have many who care about you. Keep posting when you feel like it. Find some joy to get you thru this tough spot..even if it is a bird that sits on your windowsill..anything that makes you smile.

thinking of you my friend abeautifulsunset 🌅 im so sorry to hear that you're going through a tough time. Pain is exhausting and cranky-making and just plain ol zaps a person. I really hope you and your palliative care team are able to find you the relief you need and I am resting quietly in your pocket in the case you are in the need of a bad joke or a place to vent. Big giant gentle hugs

ABeautifulSunset , pain can be really bad with spine mets. Glad to know you will be starting chemo. Hopefully the chemo will work on your liver and bone mets, improving your pain symptoms. Do you know which chemo you will be on? Does your MO have a plan to address the low platelets?

My thoughts and prayers are with you. You are right, many are going through a rough patch but there is always hope that things will turn around.

Please keep us posted. All the best to you. You have a lot of friends on this forum - some (like me) are silent followers.

Sunset, Great that you can finally get back to treatment!!! there is nothing like pain to mess with your mind & body!! I was just reading 2019 summaries of vinocap sound like they got surprisingly high response rates for the combo with few SEs, and hopefully that is how it treats you as well.
