Brand of Tamoxifen?

I have now finished radiation. I am declining chemo, so will be starting tamoxifen soon - probably August 1st. I will be asking for my prescription to be 10 mg so that ramp up slowly and have the option to take twice a day.

I've read here that many people have had less side effects with some brands / manufacturers than others. From what I've read, the brand that causes worse side effects for some causes less side effects for others.

Can you let me know what brand / manufacturer you use and about your side effects?

Thanks!

I get Teva/Mayne normally from Walgreens but for a couple of months I had Mylan. I can't say I noticed a difference in side effects between the brands. My side effects include hot flashes (two weeks or so in a 5-8 week cycle), irregular periods, dry mouth/gums, muscle cramps, muscle and tendon pain. The flashes and weird periods showed up in a couple of months. The other side effects took a year and a half or so to become obvious. I had no side effects at the very beginning.

I have tried Mayne(Teva), Milan, Actavis, and Zeytus. They all gave me the same fatigue (my worst side effect that I was trying to escape), and were all basically equivalent for me, except that Actavis seemed to have a negative impact on my mood.

From reading these boards, I get the impression that for some people, the brand doesn't matter at all and they are all fine (or all terrible) and for some people, the brand can make a difference but there is not consistency and it seems to be personal experience trial and error to find out which brands work best for each person.

I have taken the Actavis/Watson brand and now Teva/Mayne. The Actavis brand definitely caused more fatigue and depressive symptoms. The Teva brand has caused me more leg pain and hot flashes but I will take that as a trade off to reduce the fatigue and depression. I still struggle to keep weight on with either brand. Bizarre.
