Hi,

Looking for help as I wait for my surgeon to call me back. I woke up this morning with a quarter size red mark right next to my nipple. Had mastectomy and reconstruction with silicone implants couple of years ago. In the past I was hospitalized for a week with an infection from the expander. The expander was removed and sterilized and replanted, everything was good after that.

Hard to believe after so much time, I could have another infection. I'm fearful I'll lose the implant, OMG this cancer stuff just never seems to go away.

I have a potential abscess near my implant almost 10years later. Also waiting to see a doctor this week after GP referred me to a surgeon.

Do you mind sharing your outcome?

    Thank you

Posting an update to my situation. I saw my surgeon who wasn't sure what the possible infection was and sent me to a dermatologist. Dermatologist originally thought it could be cancer given my history, and did a biopsy. Fortunately the biopsy came back negative but it also didn't state what it was, only necrosis. The treatment plan was to put vitamin E oil and Acquafor on it. Now I'm 3 months out and the red mark has gotten somewhat smaller and lightened a bit but it is still very noticable. Wish I had a better explanation for what happene but am grateful for not have to endure another cancer diagnosis.
