I isn't get a mold...?

Options

so , went last week...see other post...I dont think the radiation team has a clue.

I did the CT and got three tattoos...what a mess they made of me.

MY family members have had radiation and said they got a mold of their head to jeep in place with fiam?

I didnt. they had me turn my head (did do the breathing...it's my left side following mastectomy.

I'm getting 4 areas radiated.

Should I have gotten a mold?

I've never had a mold for regular radiation. I know my treatment facility uses them, but for other types of cancer (not breast). (Actually--I did have one made for the boosts this time because I'd be lying on my side. I didn't need one in 2016 because of the location of the tumor bed. I was still on my back for those boosts.)

I think it varies depending on the site and specific radiation plan. There are different protocols and some need to be more precise that others.

I didn't get a mold. The "table" had a lot of settings and also a particular place to put the knee roll, etc. They will say numbers to each other like 8.1 and 9.something while positioning me.

I got six tattoos - two on each side and two on my mid-line. I also got some red marker and some blue marker partially covered w/ tape so that portion would stay.

They carefully position me for each treatment using the tattoos to line me up (although at first I didn't see that) and using the blue marker lines to be sure the machine is positioned correctly.

    thank u.

Yess. my radiation has always been 4 locations. chest wall, one side axillary, clavical, supraclavical...that's why I didn't understand why more tattoos.. mold?) .and not done all the same day.

I had a one sided mastectomy.

The face mold is usually for cancers above the shoulders. Some centers use a torso mold for breast cancer radiation, but not all. My mother had that, plus tattoos, in 2005 at a small regional hospital. I went to an urban hospital with a women's health center, and did not get either, just Sharpie marks and very calibrated positioning each time.

No mold here either. My left breast is the one with the cancer so I did the breath hold and turn my face to the right to protect the areas that didn't need radiation.

I had three tattoos done during the mapping/practice simulation, then a fourth tattoo done for the first radiation treatment. Since my skin self destructs with most adhesives, I'm super glad I didn't get the sticky tape. I'd have had weeping sores for weeks.

I had a mold and it made it so easy. I just laid back against the mold and didn't have to worry about my arms going to sleep.

I didn't have a mold. They can do it that way but they don't have to. I had tattoos and sharpie marks, and I went to the best radiation oncologist in town.
