Nervous waiting for stereotactic biopsy results

Options

I am 6 years out NED stage 1. Got a call-back on annual mammogram, then spot magnification, and stereotactic biopsy for suspicious calcifications Bi-rads 4. When the radiologist talked to me she was very reassuring the calcifications were most likely benign but because of my history of cancer wanted to make sure everything was okay. The report says a grouping of heterogeneous calcifications which looked suspicious for malignancy. She said it could also be scar tissue from radiation. I have noticed deep fatigue lately, weight loss and now a sore throat and cough. I put this a lot on stress, but I wonder. I am the nervous type. We are going on vacation soon and will get the results when we are out camping in Colorado. I am pretty much a nervous wreck waiting for the results and if this deep fatigue and weight loss is only attributed to stress. Thank you for reading this.

Nerves/anxiety can play havoc with your body and your immune system. Try not to worry till you need to. Fingers crossed wishing you all the best of luck.

I just signed in tonight and read your post as it was the most recent one on my screen. I am so sorry that you have to deal with this worry after being NED for six years, especially as you should be looking forward to enjoying your vacation. I sincerely hope that your biopsy comes back negative, but it is good that your radiologist is not taking chances given your history. If your biopsy happens to be positive(and that's only IF), may there at least be some comfort in knowing that it would be very likely to have been caught very early since it is calcifications, rather than a mass, that they found. Hoping for a negative biopsy for you and a fun, relaxing, rejuvenating, worry-free vacation!

GiddyupGirl and SUPer52: Thank you for your reassuring thoughts. I'm sure it will be fine. The waiting is the hard part. Good luck to you too. We are taking our grandson with us on vacation and will have a relaxing fun time.

Waiting is soooo hard! Praying for benign results for you, and that vacation is a decent distraction. Cancer has taken a lot from me, but whether I am waiting for results or in the middle of treatment, I do NOT let cancer steal my joy of vacations. It's taken enough already!
