Cellulitis
I have had an antibiotic resistant infection on my left breast where my surgeon added fat. I'm going on Week 3, Week 1 with Keflex pills, Weeks 2 and 3 with IV antibiotics daily at the hospital.
It seems to be cellulitis since an ultrasound showed no fluid under the red skin. I also don't have a fever. About 1/3 of my left breast is red/cellulitis. The antibiotics have at least kept its growth to a minimum.
My plastic surgeon only wants to take my implant out, "clean it up" and stich me up as a last resort. Has anyone had complications like this from reconstructive surgery (TE to Implants).

Hi PaulaAtlanta.
Sorry for the delayed response. Yes I did get an infection in my radiated breast. About 1 1/2 yrs after silicone implants were inserted. It was an uncommon bacteria. It occurred about 2 months after a skin punch biopsy.
6 months of different oral antibiotics. 2 hospital debridements with the last in Dec my PS exchanged my implant for the exact same one. The wound would not heal previously which is why the multiple surgeries. Oh yes 2 in office procedures to try to close it as well.
I still have a small divot that did not completely fuse together but my PS and I agreed no more cutting. All along there was a threat of losing my reconstruction permanently but he saved it. each time I had surgery I had to agree to have it removed..it was a very stressful ordeal for both of us.
Hoping you have had a positive outcome.

Hi. My infection drama doesn’t seem to end. I know have a suspect infection underneath my radiated breast. I saw the PS this morning. There is an area about the size of a dime with white fluid or tissue under the skin. There was a hematoma that was blue for quite some time after surgery in December. Spot where an incision was made underneath my breast and “accident” according to my surgeon.
Anyhow it turned white. No swelling, no lump or pain. But an obvious palatable divot. 2 weeks on Clindamycin the see PS again for followup.
I have suspected the spring water at my MIL,s house contaminated. A test is being done on Tuesday due to pending sale. My husband doesn’t believe I could have picked these up there.
The original cellulitis caused by Stenotrophomonas maltophilia Unusual unless hospital acquired. I had not been in the hospital prior. This one don’t know because we didn’t have it drained. Have spent a lot of time at MILs, showering with spring water.......I have to believe that is where I have picked this up
