Core Biopsy complete! The only surprise to me during it was that they took 12 samples instead of the 3 or 4 they said they needed. Not sure if that is good or bad! When they did the ultrasound last month the nodule was only 7mm...unless it grew there can't be much left of it after today! She said we should have results this Thursday, Friday latest.

For those who have never had one yet, take a deep breath. It really is a pretty simple process. The initial numbing is the most painful part, and that only lasts a few seconds. After that you will just feel some minor tugging and pulling. A couple times there was a bit of a dull achy feeling, but nothing bad at all. The mammogram that followed to confirm the marker was in place was a bit uncomfortable...but nothing compared to the diagnostic last month! I was in and out in about 2 hors, including the wait times. Wrapped the girls snugly in an ace bandage, ice every 20 minutes. They said to pretty much resume normal activities by tomorrow afternoon. As of right now (2 hours later) I could probably go back to work. But a bit too self conscious all wrapped up!

For me I already feel a bit of relief from the stress of the last few weeks. Finall getting it done feels like all is moving forward. It's also good to know I will finally get some solid answers by the end of this week!

I echo KR's message that that core was really NBD even though I needed two separate biopsies. I was told not to work out for several days, but was back on the bike two days later. I had lots of bruising, but no pain at all aside from the lidocaine needle.

Hoping for good news for you, KR! Keep us posted!

Just had a core biopsy yesterday. I was having pain so asked my gyn for a prescription to get a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. Mammogram showed a small area of distortion on one view of the 3-D but ultrasound could not find anything in that area. The radiologist felt that it would be better to have a biopsy and rule out cancer rather than wait 6 months. I have major health anxiety and am struggling waiting for the results. I think that I have googled it all to death! I hope everyone’s results come back quickly! The waiting is terrible

The waiting is really awful! I hope that all of your biopsies come back clear!!

I had 3 core biopsies done. 2 didn't hurt at all, and 1 hurt a lot. The one that hurt a lot was on my 3cm cancer and they said that when they are more vascular they tend to hurt more. One of the others was on a small cancer tumor and it didn't hurt at all, nor did the third which was on a cyst.

Thank you for the well wishes!

I used ice off and on every 20 minutes yesterday. I guess that helped since bruising is very minimal (and I bruise easy!!!)

Today when I removed the compression bandage, oh Lordy!!! Letting the girls hang is NOT an option lol. Lifting and reaching certainly reminds me its there as well. I imagine location and size of the breast also makes a difference in how painful it is. Mine nodule is located in at the 3 oclock position, about 1 cm from the aereola. But she entered at the far left side of my breast, almost center of my chest.

I watched the ulrasound, it looked like she was removing tissue next to the nodule as well as from the nodule itself. Not sure if that is normal? I know she took 3x more samples than she originally said she was going to take.

My phone is glued to me right now lol. Praying all the benign wishes are answered, but preparing myself just in case it's not so great news.

So last Friday nurse said results are benign. Yay! Celebrated with my hubby over dinnner, had such a relaxed enjoyable weekend!!! But then...got a call yesterday from the doctors office that is covering for my regular doctor who has been away for 3 weeks. They just wanted to update me saying pathology report was still pending??? Told them I got results over the phone on Friday, they say they don't know why or how but they would address it in the morning. I call them at 11am today to follow up. They do have the report, say it is benign but they found "something else on one of my tests that a doctor needs to discuss with you". Mind you I have also had a pelvic ultrasound, bone density scan and tons of blood tests recently. I ask which test? She says only my dr can tell me. Beyond frustrating!

My dr. gave me her cell when all this started. Texted her to please let me know what on earth is going on as soonas she is back. Bless her heart she texted right back from the West Indies (she has been on a one month medical mission trip). She will be flying in tonight and will review all to call me tomorrow. She must have called her office, because she then texted me that they found a radial scar (explains why they took 12 samples instead of 3), and recomendation is removal even though the biopsy showed benign, and that whatever they remove will be checked again to be sure no cancer. She will call me to discuss more tomorrow.

So back to the waiting game!!!
