R/O Mets - Bone scan scheduled Thursday

Hello BC sisters.

I went to my family doc today with a dull pain I’ve had around my rib & sternum for about 3 months. My “innocent” self didn’t immediately think a cancer reoccurrence. She believes it to be Costochondritis but was quick to follow up with, “we should do a bone scan just to be sure.” She didn’t mention mets but on the requisition form it states to “rule out mets”.

While I am grateful that my doc is taking things seriously, it has been hard to see R/O Mets in ink! The scan is scheduled for Thursday....the one year anniversary of the day they found the original tumour.

I’m trying hard to stay in the now and to not let myself go to the what if...but it’s hard not too. Have any of you been diagnosed with Mets within the first year of original diagnosis? <
