Objective response to Zoladex

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with Stage IV last year after I developed pleural effusions. The effusions themselves haven’t come back for more than a year. I have had mastectomy and axillary removal. Since my primary tumour was ER+, PR+, HER2 -, my MO has suggested Zoladex monthly. I also have mets to my sternum and one spot on ribs.

I have taken Tamoxifen, but couldn’t tolerate and stopped taking it.

There is some pleural scarring which causes shortness of breath on exertion.

I would like know from ladies who’ve had objective responses to Zoladex, especially in terms of their mets.

Sorry that no one has answered you yet. I have no experience with Zoladex, so can’t speak to your concerns. I have been NEAD for 8 years on aromatase inhibitors only (Yes, I’ve tried all three!). I hope someone with Zoladex experience gets back to you soon. Take care

Hi exbrnxgrl,

I’m assuming you are post menopausal because of the AI you’re taking. I’m perimenopausal and have low hormone levels already. My MO has suggested Zoladex plus Aromasin. My bone mets do not cause significant problems, but whatever remains of the pleural mets are causing breathlessness. My MO thinks Zoladex can achieve objective regressions in the pleural mets, but I’ve not been able to read any case studies that say so.
