So worried- Bone Scan

Options

I had a CT on Tuesday and that came back OK and then I had a bone scan yesterday - These tests were post BC surgery and were being done before I start chemo--scheduled to start on 7/24. Today my MO called and said the bone scan looked good BUT there is one tiny spot on my pelvis and so she wants an MRI done on the pelvis to see what it is. I'm so scared. I had a BMX 6/25 and the sentinel node came back w/micro mets. 8 other nodes were clear.

I scheduled the MRI for this Thursday, then got a call back from MRI dept that said they don't want to do MRI b/c I had BMX ( no reconstruction) on the 25th of June -- but like this week I already had a CT scan, Echo and a Bone Scan so why would an MRI be different. So I have to call my MO in the AM because I just missed them after I got the call re: MRI dept not wanting to do scan close to surgery.

I'm such a mess of worry. -

How frustrating that you're stuck in the middle waiting for calls while sick with worry. Have you have chemo, or are you on any medications? Have you had pelvic pain?

No chemo yet. The scan was a part of pre chemo testing, CT/Echo//Bone. The CT was fine. The MO said the bone scan was all good except for one 'tiny' spot on the pelvis and so since I have BC they want to do an MRI to check what it is. - No pain , no medications- supposed to have 1st chemo on 7/24. I had BMX 6/25- 2.2 cm mass, micro mets found in sentinel node - 8 other nodes clear, no cancer on right breast no cancer anywhere else in the left. I read my path report and FWIW no LVI found.

And I call first thing this AM. MO is out of office The staff said I should call my Brest Surgeon b/c MRI dept said no MRI until 6 wks post surgery. Call the BS office the doctor and nurse are out of the office for the day. So I have to wait until Monday to find out, 1. Do I really have to wait a few more weeks to get MRI? 2. Can I start the chemo b/4 the MRI is done? 3. Exactly how big is 'tiny'- and does that matter? I know it's not particularly instructive but I spend last night on google reading medical study abstracts--if only there was a magic google like that could tell me the spot isn't a met. *sigh* This blows!

Thanks for reading - if you have a magic wand please wave it over me so I can breathe :)

There are so many false positives with these tests. I got a completely clean CT, but the Bone Scan showed "something." My MO wrote it off. Eight years later I am fine!

You're welcome whatayear! It will get better with time. I was a basket case for about 2 years after diagnosis.

I had a CT scan followed by bone scan..when I got clean CT results my Onc said I was all clear no need to even wait for bone scan results..if CT was fine that was it as far as he was concerned ..

So try not to worry 😘

Thank you for the reassurance. Wish my MO had said the same! One thing went my way today - thanks to the the best Radiology Tech, I was able to get the MRI scheduled for Wed AM - she explained to MRI dept. that I had no metal in my body or TE or anything just dissolving stitches so the waived their whole 'wait 6 weeks after surgery for an MRI' rule of thumb. So MRI Wed first thing and then late morning the port placement. It sounds very weird to say but I find I am saying to myself, I can't wait for this scan to be over and then hopefully I can just relax and get started on chemo. I am a very good patient when it comes to doing whatever they want me to do---but when it comes to waiting to get tested and getting test results- I turn into a hot mess! :-)
