I'm hoping to join everyone in Brighton on March 10 and especially looking forward to the Komen race this year.
Any ideas for a location to meet on the 10th?
Gerri -
I'm hoping to be at lunch tomorrow, too, but I've still not heard were.
Anne -
Oh Anne - not tomorrow! We are planning on March 10th. We still need to find a place. I hope that didn't mess up your weekend plans.
Nancy -
Isn't it amazing what a difference one little word - in this case March - makes? I'll change my calendar! Woops!
Anne -
Hi ladies,
Bob and I are thinking about driving up for your get together. Would that be okay with you guys, we're not 100% sure yet but it would be nice to see you all again before the race in June.
Mary -
I'm glad the luncheon is scheduledfor March 10. I may be able to drive by then. I had my right total knee replacement Jan. 24. My HMO gave me 2 1/2 days in the hospital and 6 days in rehab and sent me home to my second floor bedroom with access to a show and bathroom, but no access to the kitchen. What fun! I'm getting better, but still using the walker and pain pills. I hope to use a cane soon. I get to go up and down stairs once a day as of Friday. It's so exciting after staring at my bedroom walls.
Ann -
Yay Mary, it would be great to see you, Bob and Alex again! Sure hope you can swing it.
Sound like you are on the mend Ann. With knee surgery out of the way, take those baby steps and get better.
xxxooo
Nancy -
Mary - that would be great! Hope you can make it.
Ann - Glad to hear you're doing okay, although you must be bored. -
Ann, I hope someone is bringing you something to eat since your kitchen access is restricted.
Hope to see you all in March. -
If the weather is drivable we'll be there.
Has a town and restaurant been decided on yet? I've read Brighton as the town & Panera & Tea Room as a possible places??
I told Bob he'll probaby be the only guy there, any chances Bret and Don want to go?
Mary -
I couldn't pull up the map quest.
Yes
Brighton. 3/10. We need to pick a time and place. -
Janis,
Try this link, cursor over the yellow boxes with the red target and it will show you the restaurant's name, then click and you'll get the address and other info.

Hello Michigan!
Everybody shoveled out?
I'd like to PM with anybody who went to Susan's Special Needs for wig/prosthesis and has experience with the insurance payment going to her. I'm wondering if my experience is typical or a fluke.
Thanks,
Anne -
Shoveled out I am. It took me 2 hours to get from Troy to home on Tuesday evening...normally a 35 minute drive! Ugh! I am excited about the lunch...who all is going? I will see if I cen bring hubby since he will have anohter guy there. Should we make reservations?
-
I tried to go to work, but ended up turning around and coming home since every time I tried to stop the car, I kept sliding for 20-30 feet. Then I came home, and couldn't get up my driveway until my DH came home with the plow. I hate winter.
Ann - I went to Susan's for my wig, but my insurance doesn't cover wigs, so I can't help you there.
I'll be there on the 10th also. I've never been to Brighton. Which restaurants are close to either a mall or other place we can go afterwards if we like?
Should we put a post on the other forums to make sure everyone knows? Seems like I'm noticing a bunch of new Michigan people who may not know about this thread. -
Irene,
It sounds like a good idea to post about the get together in other forums.
March 10th is only about 2 weeks away, any decision been made about the restaurant? -
I still won't be able todrive on March 19, but wouldlove to go to the lunchoen. Irene or Kay are you going to the luncheon? Would it be too far out ofyour way to pick me.up. I know you both live north of me. My address is 2522 Chalet, Rochester Hills 48309 is you want to Map Quest me & see how far out of the way it is. I would be glad to contribute to your gas.
Ann -
Well, I live in Fenton, which is just north of Brighton. So Rochester Hills is the other direction entirely for me, by about 40 miles. I'm really sorry I can't help you, Anna. Maybe somebody else is coming from your direction.

Hi Michiganders!
I haven't been here in awhile. Was just checking to see what was decided about the luncheon. I know it is March 10th., but have we decided where in Brighton? I know there are (or suppose to be) some new restaurants in the DREADED ROUNDABOUT area. Fancy, do you know if and what has opened? I've never lunched with you ladies before, so I don't know what you like. StillWater is very nice, but pricey. There is a Lonestar or Longstar Steak house (and other food). I'm thinking Chili's (mexican), Applebees..I've drawn a blank on where that is. Paneras..but I'm not sure the seating would work there. There are 2 just East of 23 on Grand River. Brighton House and E.G. Nicks. Haven't been to either, but have heard they are good.
Okay Kay, help me out here. Or anyone else who lives near. I think I'll hit the yellow pages, I'm sure I've left alot out!
Give me an idea of what kind of food you like and the price range you are thinking!
Hugs,
Denise -
Denise,
Nancy (Sphynx) posted this link showing restaurants in the Brighton area.
http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?name=&...mp;BFKey=allres
I vote for nothing too pricey and a place with a varied menu. Applebees, Chili's, Lone Star....something along those lines. So does someones vote count if they're not actually from MI & they're just more like an honorary Michigander LOL?
Mary -
Mary - you are driving the farthest so your vote counts!
I just called Panera Bread and they can accomodate a large crowd but you have to get there early (around 11:00) and hold the tables. They won't take reservations. I didn't play the cancer card though so maybe I can try again the day before.
They have a menu online at www.panerabread.com
I'm just throwing something out there so we decide and then start posting on the other topics. I know, I've been away from the boards but when I do get a chance to get caught up, I can't believe how many new Michiganders are here.

Alright - just called Lone Star also and they were very nice. They can accomodate a large crowd and take reservations. He said that some of the places even have a separate room for a group but this particular one does not.

Ohhh 11am to hold tables at Panera...kinda early?
I checked out the Lone Star menu, good prices and a variety too, not just steaks. Sounds good to me.
Mary -
Lone Star sounds good to me too. Thanks for posting the link Nancy.
-
I'm thinking Lone Star sounds good also! Set a time and I will be there. Looking forward to meeting the Michiganders!
Jackie, hope you can make it. I know it's a long drive for you.
Hugs,
Denise -
Ok - sounds like a plan, the Lone Star ok for everyone? What time, about noon? Ann, you probably shouldn't put your full address on the post for security reasons. We can post on the other topics and see if anyone is out your way near Rochester Hills and to send you a private message.
Say the word and I'll post around to announce this.
xxxooo
Nancy -
Sounds like a good plan. Noon at Lone Star in Brighton, right?
Hugs,
Denise -
Nancy,
Sounds good to me too, 12 o'clock at Lone Star. Just hope the weather is okay for driving.
Mary -
Hi Denise,
I wont be able to make it this time. I have tickets to a concert in gr on the 10th. I also have to pick my kids up from the gr airport in the early afternoon (they are going to Florida for spring break). Maybe the next one. Thanks for thinking of me.
Hugs,
Jackie -
Hi Michiganders,
I am a hop, skip and jump across the river and would love to join you girls for lunch, I think I will ask Shel if she wants to go.
How far is Brighton from the tunnel or bridge?
Best wishes, Tina -
Tina,
That'd be great if you & Shel could make it.
Bob (DH) & I will be driving up from Illinois if the weather permits. Our drive will be just over 4 1/2 hrs, but worth it to meet up again with the MI ladies that DH & I met at Detroit Komen Race for the Cure last summer, met Shel that day too.
I think Brighton is less than 50 miles from Detroit.
Mary
