MRI GUIDED BIOPSY - DENSE BREASTS
Ok I’m looking for any info, or maybe someone who has gone through the same thing .
I’m 37. Have 2 kids. No family history of any cancer at all. I have always had little lumps or spots in my breasts. last fall I had an area that was just kind of sore mostly around when I would get my period so I had them check it out and they ended up doing an ultrasound guided biopsy and said the area was negative. so I went for my six month follow-up in May (no new issues) and they did a mammogram ultrasound and MRI and said there are questionable areas in both breasts . I guess my left was most concerning -they did that one first. the MRI showed a large area of abnormal enhancement , but they also told me that I have very dense breasts so it’s hard to tell at all what it could be . The radiologist said she’s honestly not sure it’s basically a 50-50 chance. I’m hoping to have the biopsy results at the end of this week but I’m driving myself crazy thinking it could be something. Anyone have a similar situation??

Dense breasts are said to be perfectly normal, and I guess they must be, since so many people have them, but they sure do make things difficult when you are trying to find out what's going on in there. As you have discovered, sometimes the only way to know is to do a biopsy, and then you have to wait for results, and that can drive you crazy. Do whatever you normally do to relax. And then do it some more. And if that doesn't work -- it didn't for me when I went through this -- you can always ask for something to help you relax. I had a lot of tests when I was getting diagnosed, and sometimes it seemed as if all I ever got was more questions. I finally asked for something when I was about to disintegrate into a million tiny little pieces from sheer anxiety. I had never taken anything for anxiety before (and haven't since), but it did help when I really needed it.
As you already know, this may turn out to be nothing. But it may help you to know also that even if it turns out to be "something", you will deal with it, and in doing so, you will have the help and support of many people, including the community here. Now try to relax, and I'm sure that many others join me in hoping that when you finally get your biopsy results, they will tell you that you have nothing to worry about.

lacylovely322, sorry you are here and waiting, but wanted to say welcome!
Waiting for results is always hard, and this awesome Community is here to help you with information and great support from our members, as you an already see. If it helps, the article What Mammograms Show: Calcifications, Cysts, Fibroadenomas from our main site reinforces that there are many other benign masses, including some that are especially common among young women.
Good luck! We are thinking of you.

And speaking of that "50:50 chance". That doesn't necessarily mean you have a 50% chance of having cancer. It just means there is an equal chance of this being normal tissue as abnormal tissue. Abnormal breast tissue can be things other than cancer. It's premature to assume that this HAS to be breast cancer. in fact, over 80% of biopsied breasts will come back as not-cancer. Your MRI-guided biopsy will give you a lot more information.

thank you so much... I think I just need to freak out and get it out of my system and then I’m ok. If that makes sense?
Plus the holiday week makes it longer to get results, but I’m doing my best to stay calm and hopeful.
You all truly are amazing. I thank you!
