Bras Suck!
I think everyone can agree that bras (mastectomy and regular) are SO uncomfortable. I can't wait to get home at the end of the day and toss my bra on the bed. If you could create your perfect bra, what would it look like? Mine would have thin straps and a soft coverage cup so it doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything!

I'd love one that fit around my chest without feeling like I was being squeezed but held my underarm and back fat in, didn't poked my breasts when I turned, and the right strap stayed up on my shoulder (for some reason every bra I have slips off on the right).

Hi Amanda!
We're sure many others here will agree with you! You're sure to get some responses here, but we wanted to share this thread called Bras 101 with you, where many members have shared their thoughts, advice, and suggestions about all thing bras.
We hope this helps!

I would have a half push up for my natural breast and half super soft for my reconstructed side! With a nice band that doesn’t irritate the line of scar tissue I have from my drain! The perfect bra is elusive for sure. I have tried on dozens in the past few weeks. Still in coobie type stretch bras that leave me looking uneven!

I swear I'm not a shill, but I found AnaOno online through the subreddit a bra that fits. These are so comfy, so soft and designed w/ lumpectomies, mastectomies and stupid sentinel node surgery in mind.
The ONLY drawback for me is I wish they came in an XS. But for now, I'd rather have it slightly bigger in the band since I'm still swollen from rads.

Hey Edj3 - thanks for putting that name out there. Took a look at AnaOno and wow, wish I had known about those when I needed them! They look sooooo comfy! I bookmarked them, if god forbid I ever need them again. Thanks! I really wish that our SOs and ROs would share with us some info on these kind of resources. Alas, in a perfect world, am I right?

I bought four (thankfully on deep clearance) and omg I love them. They do not touch that sentinel node incision and don't chafe my radiated skin.
Like you, I hope I never need them again but glad to know about them.

I wore a cami from AnaOno all during rads! It was amazing. It had a shelf bra but it was on the outside. Their bras did not work for me though. Despite having severe anxiety trying on bras I am still searching.....
-
I am really intrigued by the camisoles. The problem for me is I'm actually an XS, so even the bras I did buy are big around my ribs. Since I'm still a bit swollen from rads, that's OK. Plus they hook in the back so that helps too.
But the camis are over the head and usually if I can get it over my shoulders then it's too big around my ribs
How did yours fit, did you feel like it was true to size?
-
do you like the back clasp?
-
I prefer them, yes, also adjustable shoulder straps.
-
edj3- I ended up going up a size just to have some room with the swelling! It is stillb the only thing I can wear to work, as I work 12hr shifts. I think they have a new design of the cami , but I imagine it is just as soft!
-
I hate wearing bras. I never wear one in the house, the first thing I do is take that off!!

AnaOno got me through post-surgery and radiation. Trying to find a few "normal" bras because some of my summer clothes don't work well with the cut of the AnaOno ones. Can't wear my pre-cancer bras because underwires hurt. Almost everything I've found causes pain in some way. So annoyed that I still have as much discomfort as I do. My breast, ribs and underarm are still painful to the touch and I'm still working on stretching out the tightened muscles. Medical professionals definitely downplay the amount of time it actually takes to heal.
